This list includes information that was shared last spring, as well as some summer changes.
Summer Staff Departures:
Mrs. Carin Molloy has accepted a position as a Gifted Resource Teacher in her home school district where her children currently attend. We know you join us in wishing Mrs. Molloy success in her new position.
Mr. Roger Claytor retired on August 1. We are looking forward to planning a celebration this fall of his many years of service to Shady Grove!
Grade Level Changes:
Mrs. Jessica LaFlame is moving to second grade.
New Staff:
Mrs. Erin Carson has joined the fourth grade team. She has extensive experience at both the primary and upper elementary levels. She impressed our interview panel with her strong focus on the individual needs of children and on the role of technology in the classroom.
Mrs. Betsy Raines has joined the fifth grade team. She has extensive experience in both mathematics and science instruction at the elementary and middle school level. She has served as both a classroom teacher and, most recently, as a math coach for new teachers in Henrico County Public Schools. She will be partnered with Mrs. Livesay who teaches Language Arts and Social Studies.
Ms. Melissa Dalton has joined the fifth grade team this year. Ms. Dalton has extensive experience as a classroom teacher at both the primary and upper elementary levels. Most recently, she served as a reading specialist in a neighboring school district. She will be partnered with Mrs. Gross who teaches mathematics and science.
Ms. Alexandra Montelione has joined the first grade team. After working in the business world for several years, she returned to school to earn a master’s degree in elementary education. Subsequently, she has acquired experience working with both elementary children and Pre-K children.
Mrs. Mary Shannon is returning to the Exceptional Education Department at Shady Grove after a year of discretionary leave.
Mrs. Kelly DuBose has joined us to lead our Pre-School Autism Program. She comes to us with extensive experience at the pre-school level in another Henrico County elementary school.
Custodial Staff:
Mr. Yonan Shehata has joined our custodial team as Head Custodian. Prior to coming to Shady Grove, he was daytime custodian at Rivers Edge Elementary. Some of our children may remember him from their years at Rivers Edge!
